PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Parent Partnership
For any successful school, the support provided by the parents are vital in students’ achievements. With greater parents’ involvement in the College, parents are able to reinforce school values and beliefs while at home.
One of the world’s greatest soccer players, Cristiano Ronaldo, has a devoted mother that provided sacrificially for her son to pursue his soccer dream when he was a teenager. Likewise in education, parents are key to the success of their children’s school journey.
It is the College’s desire to have a network of parents that could step in to support the school in running meaningful events. Through these events, parents can also get to know other school parents and staff members. You are invited to participate in this journey with us. Please fill up the form with the link given.

While your child is undergoing his/her education in the College, it will be great for you to build good friendship with other parents, and if God willing, you can also become good friends with them. Good friendships are always great social network for support during difficult moments in life.
Lighthouse Christian College is a ministry of Lighthouse Family Christian Church. One of their ministries is the Youth (Year 7 to 12) program taking place every Friday from 7 pm to 9 pm. Dinner is available at 6.30 pm for the youths in case parents are unable to cook for their children. Through the youth program, it is the desire of the Church to assist young people in building their faith in Christ at the same time knowing new friends, many of them are from the College. It is a great opportunity for parents to have either some ‘me’ time or having a meal with their spouse or friends while their children are at Youth group. For more information, you may contact Daniel Andrew, Youth Pastor Lighthouse Family Christian Church on email: daniel@lighthouse.org.au or mobile:

As Good Friday is approaching very soon, it is a good reminder to us on what Christ did on the Cross for our sins even though He was sinless.

WELLBEING
Life & New Beginnings
This term in Secondary Chapel, we have been exploring the theme of new beginnings and what it means to have new life in Christ. We’ve had the privilege of hearing from pastors at Lighthouse Family Christian Church and from some of our senior students as well.
Last Thursday we were blessed to have Brandon Chercher (Male School Captain) share a message on being a ‘New Creation’ in Christ, and it was a powerful Word inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:17 – ‘...anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!’ Brandon also shared from Jeremiah 18, which talks about God as a potter and us as the clay; even though the clay may be flawed, the potter doesn’t throw it away but instead makes a new jar of clay. There’s an important lesson and deep revelation in this story – that as God’s new creations, He helps us leave our past behind and look forward to life in Him.
We can’t wait to see more of how God moves in Secondary Chapels this year – particularly through students like Brandon leading upfront! We pray that as we continue this series, and particularly in the lead up to Easter, that God continues to reveal to our students that fullness of life can be found in Christ.

PRIMARY - ELC - YEAR 2
It was so nice to see children involved in imaginative play this week, in small and large groups and individual experiences. They begin to reach out and communicate with trusted educators and familiar children for assistance and companionship. Children also learned to explore different identities, roles, and points of view in
pretend play. They used play to imagine, create roles, and explore ideas.
YEAR 2 - ACTING & NARRATIVES
The Year 2 students have been immersed in the captivating world of narratives, honing their understanding through acting. In a recent activity, they transformed into the Three Billy Goats Gruff, showcasing not only their literary comprehension but also their budding acting skills!

PRIMARY HOUSE ATHLETICS
Last week, the Year 3-6 students jumped on buses and travelled to Duncan MacKinnon Reserve for our annual Athletics Day. The students were dressed in their house colours and brought with them lots of house spirit! They participated in many events and showed off lots of skills including running, jumping and throwing, with many students showing fabulous support for their friends. At the end of the day, the Luther Knights triumphed, but Wesley Warriors and Ten Boom Titans were not far behind, and all students worked hard and tried their very best. A great day was had by all students, staff and parents!

Year 12 camp 2024
From Tuesday 6 February - Friday 9 February, the Year 12s had an exciting and jam-packed camp in the Gold Coast. Students had an exhilarating time facing their fears at Sea World, Dreamworld and Movie World. At the Australian Outback Spectacular, students enjoyed an engaging show that also shed some light on the importance of the Australian farming industry.
Additionally, a tour around Griffiths University and the science educational program stimulated students to consider various options for what life after school can look like. Overall, this camp provided students with the opportunity to make life-long memories with their Year 12 cohort, and allowed students to unwind and relax before the busy year ahead of them.

2024 COLLEGE FAITH CAPTAINS
Introducing Nathan De Mel and Kayla Londy, your 2024 Lighthouse Christian College Faith Captains. For the first time, we're teaming up to guide you on a journey of faith exploration. This year, our goal is to break down the core principles of Christianity freshly and innovatively. We firmly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to understand the fundamental basics that the Christian faith is built upon.
As your leaders, we're committed to authenticity and open dialogue. Any questions or discussions about faith, we're here for you. Feel free to approach or contact us - we are ready to embark on this journey together.
Kayla: I highly commend Lighthouse Christian College for its unwavering dedication to crafting a meaningful worship experience. Their passion and commitment to encounter worship have shown the Christian character and culture of the school.
Regarding matters of faith, I strongly encourage actively exploring and learning various perspectives. These discussions, though occasionally challenging, offer invaluable opportunities for personal growth and deepened understanding of scripture and who God is. My intention is never to impose or diminish the beliefs of others, but rather to foster an environment of mutual respect and learning. It is through this collaborative approach that we can create a space of unity and respect within our community, whilst encouraging one another to grow more in and strengthen our relationship with Christ.
Nathan: Faith involves taking a deliberate leap of belief, where the majority of known facts align, yet there remains a crucial 10% uncertainty. It's the willingness to trust that your decision is the right one, even amidst unanswered questions. As your faith captain, along with Kayla, I am dedicated to guiding the students of Lighthouse Christian College on their journey of faith, whether it's taking that initial leap or strengthening their existing beliefs.
I come from a Christian family and have been fortunate to grow up in an environment where church attendance and service were integral parts of my life. I attribute much of who I am today to my upbringing. It's an honour to serve as your faith captain for 2024, and I'm committed to supporting and inspiring each
of you on your faith journey.

Introducing 7A Homeroom 2024
Year 7A are an enthusiastic group of students who have started their Secondary years at Lighthouse in a positive and co-operative manner. Here are a selection of their comments about the year so far:
This being my first year of high school, it has been extremely fun, but the best thing that has happened this year so far was camp. The Coolamatong camp was really fun. The most loved activity has to be tubing which is basically getting pulled by a speed boat while being in a donut. (Emmanuel Nyawelo)
I have enjoyed the Humanities Virtual Reality Incursion because it gave us ideas from a new perspective. I also enjoyed Fun Fridays when we play UNO and Table Tennis. Overall everything else is fun. (Ota Ehigie)
Year 7 has been a great year so far, but Coolamatong camp was the best thing yet. At Coolamatong camp, we were able to do some tubing, a beach walk, survival and much more! I had so much fun at that camp and I think this was the best camp I have ever had. (Shane John)
Year 7 has been really fun, especially the camp. I like the advantages we get, with the lockers and everything. (Enya Lin)
I loved the unique lessons we would have making each lesson its own story. (Isaiah Vyas)
When I came to year 7, I was quite scared that year 7 would be harder then year 6. Fortunately I was completely wrong. In year 7, we increase our knowledge by learning different things. (Nyatiem Puoch)
In Year 7 I really enjoy that we get to go to different classrooms and new subjects. Also that we get to pick electives. (Sequoia Sathongnot)

Technology faculty update
Dear LCC Community,
We are pleased to announce the beginning of a new Technology subject at Lighthouse – VCE Unit 1 and 2 Systems Engineering. With the support of our new lab
technician last year, we are able to get this subject lifted off the ground. VCE Systems Engineering promotes innovative systems thinking and problem-solving skills through the application of the systems engineering process. The study is based on integrated mechanical and electrotechnological engineered systems.
Time passes so quickly, and 4 weeks of Term 1 have gone with the wind. Our Year 9/10 Product Design students have just begun their journey of building their mouse
trap card. Our Year 9/10 Digital Solution students have also engaged in rigorous coding activities through Grok Academy. Learning has been happening in
full swing for students in Technology faculty.
For parents who are interested to find out more about what is happening in Technology for your students, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant
teachers shown below on DM.
