We had so much fun at the farm!

Myuna Farm provided an excellent opportunity to build vocabulary by exposing the children to a hands-on experience. The textures of the animal fur, different smells bombarding their little noses (identifying it and where it comes from), the dryness of the hay and the smoothness of the reptile's scales encouraged rich conversations and comments as children walked around the farm, touching and observing things and processing information as they describe new concepts.

BEAM

BEAM GYMNASTICS

This term, Beam students enjoyed gymnastics with Cathy from Koala Gymnastics.

We loved challenging ourselves with the gymnastic equipment, working together and learning new skills like rolling. - Isabella and Jahzara (Year 3N)

Cathy was kind and a great teacher. I liked falling backwards on the mat. – Rushil (Year 3S)

We really enjoyed gymnastics, especially doing the ‘taxi’ and ‘bunk bed’ exercises because it was challenging and encouraged us to work as a team. - Arthur, Jeremy and Hannah (Year 3T)

HOMEROOM 6A

Deuteronomy 31:8 says “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

During our homeroom meetings each week, I see how the students interact with each other – to how they share their different experiences – from the highs and lows of lockdown last year, to how they coped with online studying and completing their given tasks – to the wearing of masks and sanitising their hands once they were back at school. To see how they have adapted to restrictions previously implemented to the present “freedoms” they are now enjoying – makes being at school more pleasant and satisfying.

I, as their teacher, cherish the moments students are back in the classroom, playing outdoor activities and spending quality time with their peers. And with Excellence being the value of the month, these students would love to perform well in the upcoming examination. All the best to them.

LEGACY

What is legacy? A legacy is a lasting impact that has been left on the world and giving or doing something that will be remembered and valued in a lifetime. There have been many people who have made an impact on my life and have left a legacy that inspires me to think, act and behave differently, which can alter my life to be a kinder, compassionate, and more honest person. One person in my life who has left a significant imprint on me is my sister, who has just graduated and was College Captain in 2022. Seeing her persevere through this year, being under stress with her studies, committing to her responsibilities, as well as continuing to stick to her morals has inspired me and many others, and left a legacy for others to live up to. Seeing her legacy urges me to try to inspire others around me in the same way, and to strive even harder to achieve goals that are important to me.

Leaving a positive legacy behind is what inspires me to refocus and reevaluate on what I want to achieve in life and reminds me to think before I say and do. Hopefully this acts as a reminder for you to think about what legacy you want to leave behind, and what you want to be remembered for. In 1 Timothy 4:8 it says, “For while bodily training is of some good value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” This speaks about

how practicing good values and leaving an influential and meaningful legacy is what people will remember more than simply what you look like and your appearance. So, to finish of your year, make changes in your life, and leave a legacy that you can be proud of and stand by.

SRC

When we usually think about Christmas it is usually the presents we give and get from relatives, and friends, but we never think about the gifts and things that God has done for us, for one He gave us the ultimate gift, Jesus. For me 2022, as a whole, has been a gift from God.

There have been many awesome memories from this year that have really stuck with me, for example the Year 10 camp, it was my first camp after Covid and was a great experience. One of the best parts was when the boys started a massive pillow fight in the bedrooms, everyone joined in, there was screaming, laughter but most importantly we won. There have also been some bad experiences this year, although they were not great, they have taught me valuable life lessons and helped me to grow as a person and leader, that to me is another gift from God.

But one of the best gifts was my SRC role, I was so surprised when I got the role as I didn’t think I had the skills to get it. I am very grateful I was given this opportunity and the ups and downs of this role have taught me many lessons in life and it has given me much needed experience that can prepare me for adulthood. I have learned a lot about the ins and outs of school and how things can be harder than they seem.

As this is my last letter I would like to end on a high note! Thanks to Mr Kan, teachers, leaders and students alike for giving me this opportunity, you guys have been like family to me and as Dom Toretto says “Family is everything”, I may not of been the best SRC but I hope I was a great one in your eyes. It has been lots of fun and I will hope to see you next year as your Stewardship and Luther Knight Captain.

CYBER SAFETY AND BULLYING

We decided to research and organise a special presentation for the Year 5s. On Monday October 10, we organised for the police come in the morning to talk to the Year 5's about Cyber Safety and bullying and gave them pamphlets digitally. The event went well. This was part of our WRS/PDS project for this semester.

Here is some lovely feedback from our event:

  • "Thank you for organising such a nice incursion for us" - Sanvi Pandaya
  • "We have learnt a lot thanks to you" - Phoebe
  • "We had so much fun, thank you" - Bonnie
