LEARNING THROUGH CARPENTRY
Carpentry activity provides children an excellent opportunity to engage in problem solving which is an important skill for children to develop from an early age for their future. They are empowered to enhance the development of their eye-hand coordination, spatial awareness, sense of precision and understanding how to use the carpentry tools safely. Such as a real hammer and nails with the teacher’s supervision. The children have opportunities to transfer their creative ideas from one setting to another using different play materials. With focus, they hammered nails on pieces of wood to join them together to form a shape that represent their play ideas. Excellent carpentry skills!

PREP SWIMMING
After much waiting and anticipation, Preps finally went swimming. Even the wet, soggy weather couldn’t dampen our excitement! Prep H, Prep S and Prep V enjoyed 6 days at Toby Haenan swim centre, developing our swimming skills and having a lot of fun along the way. We can’t wait to go swimming again!’

FOOD STUDIES YEAR 7
Year 7 Food Studies students engaged in a deliciously aromatic practical activity learning about Thai cuisine by preparing Pad Krapow Gai (Chicken stir-fry) with fragrant rice as part of their ‘culture & cuisine’ class.
Thai cuisine is a collection of various regional culinary traditions. There are a wide variety of recipes and cuisines in play. Pad Krapow Gai is one of the most popular Thai dishes. It required many exotic spices and ingredients such as Thai Basil, bird’s eye chili, shallots, oyster sauce, and garlic. I am pleased to report that the students excelled in their dicing, slicing, and sautéing skills. Some of the end products were high quality and better than takeaway or restaurant quality! We would like to thank Mr. Sorn Norng for leading this specialist class.

Often, we may find it challenging to express gratitude for God’s provision, especially when it’s not what we expect.God, however, has this amazing ability to know precisely what we need and when to bestow those needs upon us. Essentially, we are prioritised much more than we perceive, as shown by the fact that He not only supports our needs but also withholds us from the things that may bring darkness to our lives.
So, in recognition of God’s providence, here are how some of our 10C students have seen God provide for them this year!
A verse to remember:
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

As an SRC of the homeroom 10B, I would like to say that it has been a pleasure to experience Year 10 alongside the people/class that I would consider to be family. Just as in song from the film 'The Fast and the Furious' states “ We have come a long way (yeah a long way) from where we began (you know we started)!"
We have had our ups and downs throughout the year but what stood out the most was the times we have laughed, joked and helped others out through the recovery from the pandemic. As our community outreach project we visited a volunteer kitchen which allowed us to prepare food for those in need. We also ended up getting to taste some of the food we prepared, which was the part I liked, obviously apart from helping out the homeless. Another highlight was the Year 10 camp were we got to do lots of fun activities and socialize with others in our grade.
It was times like this that made my peers not only appear to be classmates but friends.

ZENITH
"The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song, I give thanks to him." Psalms 28:7
Monday, October 17 was a special day for the graduating class of 2022, the last official school day. The Year 12 students came in special costumes and attended breakfast with their teachers. Students brought in personal items to fill the time capsule and took part in the tree-planting ceremony.
During the Valedictory assembly, the achievements of the year 12 students were recognised and honoured. Top achievers of respective VCE and VCAL studies were presented with certificates and prayed over as they embarked on a new journey.
During the assembly, the current student leaders of 2022 handed over their leadership to the newly appointed student leaders of 2023 which was symbolised by passing the lit candle. The day was filled with mixed emotions as we released our Lightkeepers to make their way into the world.
The day culminated with a Valedictory Dinner, an opportunity to come together as a cohort along with their family, friends, and teachers. This was a time to celebrate their success and to say farewell to their friends and teacher as they embark on an adventurous journey and enter a new phase of their life.
I would like to commend and congratulate the class of 2022 for their resilience and persistence. They have been an inspiration to future generations. Furthermore, I would like to express my gratitude to all the parents of the Year 12 graduates who have been part of the Lighthouse Community and have journeyed with us with their children from Kinder or Prep.
Let us continue to keep our graduates in our prayers as they sit for their final VCE examinations and for their future endeavors.
Once again congratulations to the class of 2022. You have finally made it.
God Bless
