DEPUTY PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

The beginning and end of each school day are some of the busiest moments on our campus. Cars are moving, students are excited, staff are supervising, and families are often juggling work commitments and tight schedules. It only takes one moment of distraction for something to go wrong, which is why these transition times require particular care from all of us.

Research consistently shows that the highest risk for child pedestrian incidents occurs during school drop-off and pick-up times. Congestion, time pressure and reduced visibility all increase risk. That is why our traffic and supervision procedures are clearly outlined in our Car Park and Driveway Safety Policy and why we regularly remind our community of them.

Dismissal Times

As a reminder:

· Primary: 3:15pm – 3:35pm

· Secondary: 3:35pm – 4:00pm

If you have children in both sub-schools, please arrive during the Secondary window. Primary students will be supervised safely in the Sports Centre until siblings are ready.

Arriving at the correct time genuinely helps us supervise well and keeps traffic flowing safely.

Kiss & Go – Why It Matters

Our Kiss & Go system is designed to keep students predictable and visible. Children, especially in Primary years, cannot accurately judge speed and distance the way adults can. When cars pull forward consistently, when drivers remain in their vehicles, and when students enter cars only in the designated embarking area, risk drops significantly.

You will notice traffic wardens guiding vehicles, a strict two-minute limit in the embarking zone, and one-way traffic during peak times. These are not about efficiency alone; they are about safety. Small acts of patience make a significant difference.

Early Arrivals

Yard supervision begins at 8:15am.

Primary students who need to be dropped off before 8:15am must be signed into Camp Australia for supervised care. This ensures that they are properly monitored and safe while on campus.

Secondary students should not be onsite before 8:15am, as there is no supervision available prior to this time.

Once students arrive at school, they must remain on the grounds until the school day begins.

Late Collection

Supervision concludes at 3:45pm, as staff move to meetings and other responsibilities.

Primary students not collected by this time will be escorted to Camp Australia, and parents will be billed accordingly. Secondary students remaining after 3:45pm must report to the Library (open until 5:00pm) or Student Reception so that we can ensure their safety.

We are also increasingly concerned about students gathering in the adjacent park after school. After 3:45pm, this area is unsupervised. While we understand students enjoy social time together, we cannot ensure their safety once they leave the grounds. We ask families to support us by ensuring students head home directly after school unless under supervised care.

A Word About Our Neighbours

We are grateful to be part of a wider community. Please avoid parking across driveways and refrain from using the private estate beside the rear gate as a shortcut. These moments matter. Courtesy strengthens relationships and reflects who we are as a College.

The safety of our students is never accidental; it is the result of shared responsibility. When procedures are followed consistently, supervision works as intended and risks are reduced.

Hebrews 10:24 reminds us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…”

In the car park, that might look like waiting your turn.

It might look like pulling forward.

It might look like arriving at the correct time.

Thank you for partnering with us to protect what matters most — our children.

Yours in His service,

David Holloway

PRIMARY

Primary Student Leaders

Wow, what a start to the year it has been. We have spent the last few weeks training the Year Six Primary Captains in their daily roles of raising and lowering the flag each day, setting out playground equipment for our primary students, helping their allocated classes lineup nicely after break times and settle into a new normal. These captains already have shown great diligence and servant leadership. Last Monday morning we were able to officially introduce them as our Primary Captains and introduce them to the rest of primary at our assembly. Just this Monday they were able to attend a primary Christian leadership conference at Oxley Christian College. This was an amazing time where the students worshipping together with leaders from 21 other Christian schools, learnt about what Christian leadership looks like and heard stories from inspirational Christian leaders in different fields. We were so impressed with the way these students held themselves and how they interacted with other schools and made some new friends.

I am confident that this year, these captains will make a godly and positive influence on our college.

Toys Over Time Incursion

This week, our Year 2 students went on a “time travelling” adventure during our Toys Over Time incursion! As part of our Integrated Studies about how technology and entertainment have changed over time, students explored how children played in the past and how toys have evolved across generations.

Students worked in groups and rotated through a range of exciting hands-on activities. They used their creativity in imaginative play, challenged themselves with puzzles and brainteasers, enjoyed active games and movement-based toys from previous generations, and put their building skills to the test by designing and constructing with a variety of construction toys.

It was wonderful to see students so engaged and curious as they played with toys they had never seen before. Many students commented that they had always wondered how their parents played without iPads, but now it all made sense! The session sparked lots of laughter, learning, and thoughtful discussions as students compared the past and present and shared their ideas about how toys and technology have changed over time.

It was a fun and meaningful experience, and the time truly flew!

PRIMARY ATHLETICS DAY

Our Primary students from Grades 3–6 had an amazing time at Casey Fields for this year’s Primary Athletic Day!

The day started with high energy as students arrived ready to compete, cheer, and support their houses. You could hear loud cheering and encouraging words all around the field as everyone showed great house spirit and sportsmanship.

Students took part in both track events like sprints, hurdle and relays, and field events such as long jump, shot put, and discus. Everyone tried their best and gave full effort in every event, just like real athletes!

One of the highlights of the day was seeing teams work together and encourage their teammates, even when events were challenging. At the end of the day, each house performed their war cry, which was loud, proud, and very competitive!

Primary Athletic Day was not just about winning – it was about trying your best, supporting others, and having fun together. Well done to all students for showing fantastic teamwork, positive attitudes, and school spirit. We are so proud of you!

SECONDARY

Sport Assembly

Our Secondary Sport Assembly was a fantastic celebration of the incredible sporting achievements of 2025. Staff and students came together to recognise the hard work, commitment, and determination shown by our athletes throughout the year.

We proudly celebrated our students who represented us with pride in competitions across the region, including outstanding performances in CSEN Cross Country, Athletics and Interschool Sports as well as other individual and team championship events.

We are incredibly proud of all our students who represented the school this year as well as those that achieved personal sporting success. We look forward to another awesome year of sport in 2026.

House Volleyball

Our House Volleyball Competition marked the first House event of the year, and what a fantastic way it was to begin! All students from Years 7–10 took part, setting the tone for a year filled with energy, teamwork, and house spirit.

After a series of competitive and hard-fought games, it was the Ten Boom Titans who claimed the victory!

Well done to all students for participating and making the day a success!
