PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” – Romans 12: 4-5

As part of our commitment to building strong connections within the school community, it is important that we remain mindful of those around us, both in our families and in the wider community.
Last week, the College’s leader was invited to attend a men’s health discussion hosted by the local Member of Parliament, Mr Tim Richardson. A key concern raised was that many men either do not receive enough support or are reluctant to seek help from loved ones, friends, or professionals within the community. Participants were encouraged to play their part by urging family members and peers aged 50 and over to have annual blood tests, as research shows that women are generally more proactive in this area than men.
In relation to mental health, participants were also reminded of the importance of checking in regularly on people they know who live alone, as this can provide valuable support within families and the wider community. During the session, we learnt about Dadsgroup.org, an organisation that supports fathers in their parenting role. Fathers needing support may find this group helpful in developing parenting skills and building connections with like-minded people.
We will shortly send a letter addressing several concerns affecting our school community during dismissal time.

WELLBEING
Hey Lighthouse Family!
I wanted to take a moment to encourage you all from Luke 10. We see the story of Mary and Martha, where Jesus comes to their house for a meal. Throughout the night, Martha is completely caught up in the preparation, the serving, and making sure everything is perfect. She becomes so focused on all the details that she misses spending time with Jesus Himself.
Meanwhile, Mary does the complete opposite. She sits at the feet of Jesus, fully captivated by His words and simply enjoying His presence. Martha sees this and becomes frustrated, even coming to Jesus to complain that Mary isn’t helping.
But I love Jesus’ response. In verses 41-42 He says:
“My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
I think this speaks so powerfully into our lives today. It’s so easy to become consumed with the busyness of life, always moving, always doing, always thinking about the next thing. So much so that we can forget what’s most important: to simply stop and sit at the feet of Jesus.
I believe the Lord has a fresh revelation for each of us, a fresh word He wants to speak into our lives daily. He wants to move in ways we’ve never seen before, and to grow and shape us more into His likeness every day. But when we become so caught up in the doing, the schedules, and the practical demands of life, we can sometimes miss what God is wanting to say and do within us.
Can I encourage you, in the middle of the routines of life, through work, extracurriculars, responsibilities, and social events, to make a conscious decision to sit at the feet of Jesus. Spend time in His Word. Spend time in prayer. Create space to simply be with Him.
Because often it’s in the stillness that God speaks the loudest.

SPORT
House Runathon
Our annual House Cross Country took on an exciting new format this year, becoming the inaugural House Runathon! Students were given the opportunity to choose a distance that suited both their ability and personal goals, with options including 2km, 4km, 8km and 12km events.
The new format encouraged participation from students of all fitness levels, with many challenging themselves to complete distances they had never attempted before.
A special highlight of the event was that we had face paint, jumping castles, house merch and every participant received a pair of house socks and medal in recognition of their effort and House spirit. It was fantastic to see so many students embracing the challenge and celebrating each other’s achievements.
Congratulations to Wesley Warriors, who were crowned the overall champions of the 2026 House Runathon!
We look forward to building on this exciting new tradition in years to come.

CSEN Soccer Championships
Well done to our talented Secondary students who represented our college at the annual CSEN Soccer Championship. With only select students chosen to compete, our teams faced tough competition.
Across the tournament, our students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and determination and competed with enthusiasm.
A special congratulations goes to our Junior Year 7-9 Girls team, who were crowned repeat champions following another outstanding campaign. This achievement is a credit to their skill and commitment.
We are excited to continue growing upon this success!

ELC Mother’s Day Celebrations
We had a truly heartwarming Mother’s Day celebration at ELC recently! It was a joy to welcome many mums and grandmothers into our learning space for an afternoon dedicated to love and connection.
The children were beaming with pride as they led their special guests through a variety of thoughtful activities. Everyone joined in for some energetic action songs and a cozy group story time. Our ‘mini massage and manicure station’ was busy with the children pampering their guests. Children worked hard, threading beautiful bracelets and decorating their mum’s first initial for a keepsake. Then we wrapped up the session by sharing light refreshments and handing out special hand-decorated gifts prepared by the children.
Thank you to all the mums and grandmothers who took the time to join us. These moments of connection create wonderful memories for the children and strengthen our beautiful kinder community.

Year 1 STEM Incursion
On Tuesday, Year 1 students enjoyed an exciting STEM incursion where they explored a variety of toys and investigated how different materials and forces affect the way things move. Through hands-on activities with giant Tetris, Beyblades, marble runs, musical instruments, slinkies and more, students experimented with rolling, stretching, bending, sliding and spinning as they observed motion in action. The session sparked curiosity, encouraged prediction and problem-solving, and gave students the opportunity to discover important science concepts through play and teamwork.

Buddy Geologist: An Excursion to Melbourne Museum
Last week, our Grade 3 “Buddy Geologists” enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Museum as part of their learning about rocks, minerals, and soil. This hands-on experience gave students a chance to deepen their knowledge beyond the classroom.
At the museum, students explored the In Our Wondrous Planet exhibition, where they encountered over 800 animals from around the world. They discovered how living things are connected across different environments, including ice, soil, forest, and reef biomes. It was a wonderful way to see how Earth’s ecosystems support life.
Students also visited the Dynamic Planet gallery, where they were amazed by rare minerals, giant crystals, uncut diamonds, and gold nuggets. They learned how these natural wonders are formed deep within the Earth under special conditions.
To finish the day, students enjoyed an unforgettable experience watching Our Beautiful Planet in IMAX. The film took them on a journey through space and across Earth, offering a unique perspective on our planet and galaxy. It inspired the students to think about the future of our world while appreciating its beauty and importance.
It was a fun and memorable day that brought learning to life for our Grade 3 students!

Face painting stall: A celebration of HEART values
The face painting stall began three years ago with the simple goal of building house spirit and cheering on our teams at Athletics Day. It started with just three volunteers, who gave their time in a genuine act of kindness.
After two years of success, the initiative expanded this year to Cross Country too, a great testament to the strength of student volunteering and the passion behind making it a success.
Three years on, it has grown into a vibrant space where students express their creativity, with 22 student volunteers this year helping to paint faces, set up, and pack up the entire area with dedication and joy.
This initiative truly reflects our HEART values: showing Humility in serving others, Empowerment as students take ownership, Authenticity through creative expression, Respect in working together, and Tenacity in their commitment throughout the day.
Thank you to all the students who contributed to making the stall such a success.
